A Few of My Favorite...Shows!

Television...oh television. The thing I would sit inches away from as a kid and ignore my mother in the back ground yelling at me to back away or I'd lose my eye sight.

So I'll share my favorite television shows.

These are in no particular order:

1. My most recent addiction: Sex And The City
I'm the biggest fan of Kim Catrall and Sarah Jessica Parker.

2. A show that I came across while I was a young tween: Charmed.
Ah, a story about three witches that conquer demons and juggle their daily lives each day!
My favorite characters are: Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Prue (Shannon Doherty, who only lasted three seasons)

3. A show similarly related to the previous one: Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy was one of the single greatest discovery! And I may as well in the same part of the post talk about it's spin off: Angel. Oh, so much goodness, I could talk for days.

4. A show introduced to me by a friend. I grew to love it because it is more of the drama that life actually has. And the characters are outstanding, this show is still on television and I most recommend that you watch it.: Grey's Anatomy.
Although this show feels like it is on it's down turn. It has a spin off that some of you might like, Private Practice.
My favorite characters: Derek & Meredith and Owen & Christian (I'm most like Christian)

5. Last one for this post, at least. My all-time favorite television show: True Blood!
This show could not have been more perfect for me! From my favorite character Alexander Skarsgard to the plot line. It has never disappointed me, the next season come out this summer. So if there is any Trubies out there! IT IS COMING!

These are just a few! But mostly the ones I still follow and watch re-runs for! Check them out.

Weird...and Philosophical

Sometimes life is like a tricky poker game. Who is bluffing? Who is sweating it out? Who is cool and smooth because they in fact hold all the cards? You never really know.

But, think about the card dealer for a second. He is the person who deals these hands. In reality we cannot blame him for the cards dealt or laid out to us. But, isn't it just exactly that?

A game? A game.

Is there a strategy to this game, or are we all just walking through it hoping that the cards we have will let us win out in the end?

I have not in anyway intended this blog to be a weird, overly advice filled blog. But since this blog is in entitled "A Day In The Life Of Nathalie" I feel like the things that cross my mind are as valuable as the things I eat or where I go.

These things have recently crossed my mind more frequently. I have held major losses, and had major gains. (much more of one, and less of the other, but the is irrelevant here). Sometimes I just question if we really have control over these things. Do our choices actually effect the path we choose, or are we just, simply pawns in game, from some higher power?

I have come across people all of my life who don't believe in the idea of destiny or fate. Are either of them real?

I blame my exposure to philosophy for these questions. Reading things like Aristotle, Descartes, and Kant has warped my mind into believe that everything I do really needs to be put into question.

Blame. Philosophy.

But anyway, we'll leave that question to ponder in your mind. And maybe the next time someone walks into your life, or you make a choice about something, even the small stuff. You'll think about this post, and wonder, how can this change my "path"? Will it give me advantage in the game? Or does any of it even exist?

To The Wolves?

Good afternoon,

My days have been oh so consumed with catching up on assignment after assignment. Hey, thanks pneumonia, you're a real gem.

I spend my evenings catching up on much needed sleep and watching Sarah Jessica Parker have all the dresses I wish I had.

A question came to mind of my weeks of illness.

I had a professor who upon finding out the inter workings of my life and then my illness had been so upstanding and generous to me, gave me an extension on my assignment and refused me in class because she said I needed to be home in bed...strange. Since early high school teachers told us university professor would barely know our names let alone feel any compassion towards us. On the contrary, high school teachers. You were wrong!

...Well for the most part.

St. Thomas is a small university - 2000 or all little over population. Which makes pretty easy for classes to be personalized and for the professor to call on you and use your name. In my Aquinas class, the class consist of 25 people, hard not to get to know one another. When my aunt passed away, my professor were attentive to my behavior and assured me that if I needed to take time to take it. One of them after offering sympathies had a long heart to hear with me about things going on in my life. I needed that conversation!

However; in first semester, I had a introduction psychology professor, young, seemingly attractive (and he knew it) and he only knew the names of those students who spoke out, asked questions, or seemed highly intelligent. Preferential treatment maybe? I guess that is also part of the "small university" environment. That class was a class of about 60 students. The same thing is occurring this semester in a similar class. Except she is female, probably has a son the same age as the other professor and she dress atypical professor.

So, is university just really someone throwing you to the wolves. Or is it throwing you into a den of cute adorable puppies with one wolf that might devour you and the puppies given the chance?

What a poor analogy, I'm sorry, I'll try harder next time!

My Day - plus some advice!

My day didn't go as planned, but common how people's day goes actually as planned. Not many! I started the day off badly. Namely by sleeping through my alarm...this happens more often then I would like.

I woke up, and make myself some oatmeal, and ran my ass off to the bus station. That's serious stuff, missing the bus. Which is a topic I will discuss it a future post.

I went to my first class, and well, felt sick. So I talked to my second class professor, and walked home. (this is the part that wasn't planned, and even worse, I may have to end up going home.)

After about an hour I made some dinner! Always fun right?
Nothing fancy or great I assure you, but might tasty!

I later laid down, watching a new found addiction. Sex and the City...shame.
That nap I can assure you was one of the best of my life. Ah!

Now, on to some advice I've learned. Nothing life changing but, here is my advice for people who are struggling with a cold, flu, or anything "sick" related.

1. Visit the doctor, never put this off, it's not worth it

2. Get your prescriptions right away!
3. Stock up on some Kleenex! (box or these nifty things both work.)

4. Read some metaphysics....
JUST KIDDING! That shit is awful.

5. And lastly, indulge in making your self feel better! With anything you like. Me, it's baby lotion and bubble baths.
Taking care of yourself should always be a priority. This may not be helpful.

An Average Day

So, I am very sick today, and wasn't going to blog. How foolish, right?

This is my "that's a foolish idea face" So, in lieu I shall blog about the events of my day. My day, on the weekends especially don't start before at least 11:30 a.m. because I'm a really lazy ass. Like, I hit the snooze button at least four times before I get up. It's a huge problem really.

The morning always, and this is a given, obviously. I eat breakfast.

Yum. Apple cinnamon oatmeal, and vanilla yogurt. And hazelnut coffee creme coffee. The most perfect combination. I eat, a LOT. So be prepared for lots of food instances.

And, today, I most worked on homework. (blah blah blah)

Try to nurse myself back to health....I really want my Mom. So instead I have grown completely attached to something else. This will be sad, so say judgment.

Yep, that's right....Kleenex!

Dinner time is always a good time. Most days I eat at my lunch at the school cafeteria. Though I try to eat healthy. I do try, HONEST. Not really, who doesn't love some deep fried mozza sticks. Huh? No one!

Bagel bites, which I'm not sure you could consider that healthy. And vitamin water, I've honestly grown to love this stuff. It's amazing! If you can get some, do so! Right now. At 9:27 at night. Go, and get some.

As the nights ends, and I've neglected my homework (such a procrastinator these days...bad habit of all university students I'm sure.)

I sit down with a mason jar V8 fruit juice. Yum!

That's a typical boring day in my life. Now, on to the Oscars, and History reading.

Teresa Viola Rose Colford

Last month, on January 23, 2013 I lost one of the greatest people to ever have touched my life. Her name was Teresa. She was my aunt and godmother.

Teresa was a former solider in the Canadian Forces, and served them well. She was a mother of two kids that are now very successful in theirs lives one attending university and the other applying. She raised them to be wonderful well rounded kids.

Teresa was a daughter and a sister. There is nothing Teresa would not do for her mother and sisters. Or for us kids that she loved so deeply.

I was adopted into my family, and one of the first people to ever welcome me or for that matter make me feel welcome was dearest Teresa. Not a day went by that she was trying to include me in everything everyone was doing.

One of the things that was super important to my aunt was our graduation. We worked out butts off and that was one thing she was extremely proud of.

I shared my prom with her also. That was a super fun day. Mostly trying to move a ball gown around a hospital room. But oh it was well worth it.

In the photo is Teresa's son Kasey! And I'm the girl in the ballgown.

Though it has only been a short time. I miss you every day, and more and more I wish I could just say I love you one more time.

See you up there someday, Teresa. <3

Grocery Day

About every two weeks, I have the dreaded thing called grocery day. (hint: I'm very money conscious  and not in a good way/productive way)

Grocery day consist of me buying literally just basic food requirements. Or ones that sustain my diabetic diet. Yes, diabetic. That limits many things I can purchase and always makes it more expensive to buy things for myself.

Being a collage student, living in a hotel/dorm inspired apartment, I'm bound to the abilities of the microwave.

On a side note: I find sharing a communal kitchen very awkward...crappy law students.

I can only buy things that are microwavable, however, these days, most everything is microwaveable. I'm trying to be far more healthy.

I bought things like V8 fruit juice, oatmeal, yogurt. Some vitamin water, which I'm told is quite good.

It was a successful trip to Wal-Mart I must say. I've started to collect blogs that offer me alternative healthy options.

After about a weekend and a half of only going to home and school (due to pneumonia, boo.) I got myself some Starbucks. A vanilla spice latte, and one of my favorite treats, an oatmeal fudge bar!

And...

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS.

That is all for now.
